education does opens doors
I have to agree 100% with this statement because education does open doors where none seen to exist because take a look around your self for just a minute see most of the famous business men around you this opportunity did not just fall out of the sky and into their laps no some of them had a very troubled and disturbed up bringing with not so very fortunate parents or their familes were not that rich but they did not sit there and sulk they went to school focused and knew they had a common goal in mind and that was to be successful in what they were targeting in life. Most of this men and women never saw themselves with all the wealth that they own today but because they kept focused and were definitely focused and were willing to go the extra mile just so they could make it out of their misery and troubled lives as young people growing up in rough times. So the person really never thinks that this door is even there for people of his class but is shocked to see that education can really take people far and help them attain better futures so yes I do agree with this statement that it does open doors that do not exist.

censorship
I have to agree with mathabane and the whole idea of his stories being censored. People have the tendancy these days to down grade things not in the context of bringing down or putting down but in the sense that things have to fit with their lifestyles and how they do things. so unfortunately his story was one of them, it may have been a really graphic and quite mind blowing acts of violent during the apartheid that most people know was a very tough and rough time that people in South Africa had to go through but then we also have to realize that this a man talking, and telling his story of his life adventures and near encounters and this are things that really captivated him and were dear to him so when someone goes through the trouble of removing that whole scene of the story, he has actually removed a really significant part of the authors works which he wrote in order for the world to know his story. This parts that are censored out are a very big time in his life and maybe he could just rate the book a little bit higher and for the more mature people who can handle his stories. Yes there are times when censor ship is actually necessary like basically in almost all forms of media because our world is developing really fast and media is actually a really big company and promising in terms of investments so people need to watch what they see or hear in this media because companies now are getting the latest shows just to be the person with the latest show now this shows mostly hurt the youth because they watch television most of the time and will be exposed to these things that will teach them wrong.

Truth Project
The video was not actually that bad, it was pretty good but the fact that it was a lecture was not that incredible because lectures tend to turn me off. the professor who teaches the class seems amazing because he knows all this things that people tend to just look over and not pay attention to. The way they use rel life people from the true world to answer questions is good because it is always good to hear someone else’s opinion from your level of intelligence and who you can connect to, before you consult the proffesionals. I enjoyed all the discussions because he was simply talking about things that are here and that are real but we simply just put them off because of fear or neglect for the truth. This journey helps one realize different aspects of his or her life that they really do not consider to look at. The small questions that he asks like what is evil?! You know questions that someone knows what the answer is but cannot explain it this questions are things that can twist a persons brain and get then working over drive trying to figure the answer out but you cannot because the answers are just big and vast that different people have different answer. Another cool fact about this whole truth tour is that it can relly test ones faith and to get you asking yourself where you really believe in the right religion, whether you believe in the right belief or do you actually have enough faith in the all powerful God. It gets one thinking of whether they are in the right place at the right time and that everything happens for a reason and that nothing is coincidence. It gets one thinking wheteher they have been lowered into all this false belifs because it is it what every one is doing.

Ghosts
In the Joy Luck Club meaning of the ghost is ignore and forgotten. Story didn’t mention a lot about real meaning of ghost. So some of people may say it is kind of described. However, I think this is more complex image than what people think. I believe this is very sad thing in Asia countries. because in Asia we are respect people even if we don’t know them. If someone forgotten in the family member, this is saddest thing. Furthermore it shows strict culture style. Even I have same opinion. I can’t accept this kind of mother. I’m not saying every Asian doing like that. However, Most of people may have same idea like this in Asia. Some of other countries culture can accept this kind of happening. .but I am more familiar the Joy Luck Club story.

Ying-Ying "Betty" St. Clair
Ying-Ying "Betty" St. Clair was born into a wealty family. Betty was born into a conservative family she was taught to be gentle. Born in the year of a tiger. She keeps her feelings bottled in. She is very passive and accepts whatever wrong comes her way.
Her weakness would have to be being passive. She marries a man not out of love but because she belives it is her fate and it is what is in store for her. She does not expect a lot for herself and takes whatever chance she gets. Even though she gets a second chance at life she does not expect much out of it. She finally finds a break out of her un successful life style when an American man comes to court her but she is reluctant about it and is still controlled.

Joy Luck Club
Yes they are definetly connected in my point of view, even though they are different stories from different people and different morals the all come together eventually. In this stories there is a lot of tragedy and suffering. The parents or more specifically the mothers or the women in this stories, have left behind a rich and modest culture that was fit to fend for themselves. They have left behind friends and family in the hope of achieving this American dream that everyone whispers and talks about. There is also a lot of tragedy and a sense of lose in the stories of these women. They all have this feeling of respect and want to sort of keep a piece of where they come from which would be china in this case and they want to pass this practices or things that they have done with their parents in the past down to their children. Even though the women go through really tough and stressful things in their lives, I noticed that they were all strong and most of then really did not panic, they took it all in and did not give up they took whatever curve ball life threw at them and they hit it out of the park. There courage to take everything head on was great and that is exactly what they needed to succeed in the united states.

The Truth
The truth project is a really good lecture that helps one challenge their faith and actually try to answer questions that we do not think of in our day to day lives. This are questions that we know about and we know how to say them all the time but we do not really know the answers to these questions. What is truth? Why did Jesus come into the world? What exactly was the purpose of his journey into the world? This are just a small few of the questions among billions and billions of questions that we do not understand but claim to know the answers. It helps one test his faith by seeing how much one actually knows the father the maker of heaven and earth. It puts us in his perspective to see how he crested the world and what he went through with the devil, and the devil’s selfishness. We see or are placed in first person view just like the action games where you are basically the person’s eyes and reactions to what is going on around him. I liked basically the fact that it was in a classroom setting and was not like a movie that has role play and people are acting, I felt like I was actually in this psychology class with the professor as my teacher. The fact that it was in a classroom or a lecture hall is good because one can experience that college teaching style and he was a great professor. It was a great learning experience and taught me that even though a certain phrase or question may sound quite easy or corny I should take time and think about the question asked.

Blindness
In the twilight saga (a movie that most teenage girls are fond of) there are two people a man and a woman. The ladies name is Bella and the guy’s name is Edward and he is a vampire who supposedly pretends not to drink human blood. So she likes the vampire man who everyone knows is bad and is not to be trusted but she does not really care about what people say but she likes him because he has this bad boy swagger and he can protect her from almost anything. Bella has chosen to go through the whole relationship blindly. She just goes on not really caring what people say about her awkward relationship with a vampire. It is a blind relationship and she really has no say on what happens in the relationship, she is always told what to do and what to say when confronted with different forms of encounters with her father. She has no freedom or say in the relationship. Edward comes and goes as he pleases. He is once said “Something came up I have to go forever” and she could not believe it she had actually clinged to him so much now that she had blindly fallen for him.

Anxiety and Conflicts
I deal with anxiety in many different ways. When I am uneasy or anxious I usually go play video games to help easy my mind and just help get my mind off whatever is bothering my mind. I also usually listen to music to help ease my mind. I get anxious over quite little things to and they tend to also work my nerves at times which I think is really unprofessional. Small things like what is for lunch or who is to come over to the house.
Coping strategies for anxiety I usually use is to at time s take stomach medicine like actal just a little bit because I think as self medicated to me, I think it helps my body to deal with all the lactic acid build up that I get.
Well for me I usually do not like conflicts between people I’m a lover not a fighter and this has helped me with basically life as a whole, but when I am pushed to a corner I can actually lash out violently and people can be hurt but I usually keep quiet and cut the person out of my life because they are not worth the effort.

King Oedipus
The end was actually quite a shocker and really tragic, to see someone of high stature fall down to a low stature was not actually what we were expecting. I guess I was expecting him to be the victor of the whole story and to come out on top in the end of everything. It would have been better of if he had just listened to Jocasta much previously then maybe he would not even be in this dilemma. The downfall of King Oedipus to me shows that when you go so far to find out the truth and about your past, in the end very many people can be hurt especially yourself. In return his want to seek the truth was his downfall when he answered the riddle that the sphinx talked about, it all came back to him eventually. It is actually sad to see such a strong and powerful man fall from power. Oedipus is a really great man and his fall from power shows that even the mightiest man to can fall from power. Creon finally takes power even though I still kind off saw this part coming it was all a matter of time, but in a sense I feel really bad for Oedipus whom had to go through all this stuff to then finally lose it all in the end and the fact that the person whom he accused finally emerges victorious was a pity

Fable
There was a lion that was really big and strong. He walked around shaking his mane side to side, while it glowed in the sun. Lion was well known all over the jungle. There was the hyena on the other hand he was not that tough or good looking at all and everyone ignored him when he talked to them but the hyena was very smart. Lion often killed many antelope and left what he did not need so hyena never had to hunt he follwed behind and picked up the scraps.

Freedom
Freedom to me is like for ont to have different rights with little or no regulation. People exercise there rights in many different ways, for example people have the right by law to do say what they want. Some dictionary definitions include: the quality or the state of being free, the absence of necessity, or constrain to choice of action. Pretty much everyone is born with a certain amount of freedom, they may be little infants but if that child was capable to walk it has the right to just jump out of the cradle that it is in and it can just walk out if it wanted to. This little story tells that we are pretty much free to do what ever we like, but with everything good there is always a down side.
Freedom is good yes but them again too much freedom is a bad thing especially with the youth today. A parent who gives a child way to much freedom can either find their child dead or maybe to deep or well rooted to drugs and alcohol abuse compared to a child that has limited or even near zero freedom, yeah that child may be frustrated or even angry to at their parents for not letting them go to the clubs, pubs or even bars with their other friends but if you even check most studied almost eighty percent of this children with near minimum freedom actually have great futures in store for them. They tend to be our doctors, ceos, etc. Freedom is a great thing it helps one develop and to even speak their minds out to people. Someone who is under oppresision suffers a great deal of frustration. When a persons freedom has been taken away they suffer mentally and even emotionally.
